Basebone was a proud sponsor of the 2019 St Patrick’s Day Pro-Am, held at the Metropolitan Golf Club, Cape Town.

The event, now in its 18th year, was created to support The Hurdy Gurdy House.
The Hurdy Gurdy House, an NGO, was the first home in South Africa set up to specifically cater for the needs of adults with Autism.

Autism is a complex neurobehavioral condition that includes impairments in social interaction and developmental language and communication skills combined with rigid, repetitive behaviors. Because of the range of symptoms, this condition is now called autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It covers a large spectrum of symptoms, skills, and levels of impairment. ASD ranges in severity from a handicap that somewhat limits an otherwise normal life to a devastating disability that may require institutional care.

Proceeds raised from this golf Pro-Am day, are used to support the NGO in ensuring that they can continue to provide care and residential facilities to those adults that suffer with Autism.

To date, the St Patrick’s Day Pro-Am has raised in excess of ZAR1.5m for this charity.
